LIVERPOOL continued their perfect start to the season with a last-gasp winner against Atletico Madrid in their Champions League opener.
Arne Slot’s lot welcomed the La Liga big boys to Anfield on Wednesday night for the first match of what they’ll hope will be a long European campaign this season.
And they kicked off their Euro campaign with a thrilling 3-2 win over Diego Simeone’s charges
Barely four minutes had been played before Andy Robertson, whose contract with the Reds expires next summer, broke the deadlock.
And they were two goals to the good a mere two minutes later through Mohamed Salah.
Marcos Llorente pulled a goal back for the visitors in first-half stoppage time.
And he struck again in the 81st minute to level the match and bag his SECOND career brace at Anfield.
But a 92nd-minute header from Virgil van Dijk stole the three points and handed the Merseysiders their fourth straight win of the season.
