A veteran with playoff experience faces a dynamic rookie when the Detroit Lions host the Washington Commanders in an NFC Divisional Round game on January 18.

Coming off a bye, the Lions, led by QB Jared Goff, were one of the best teams during the regular season. Detroit decimated the Minnesota Vikings 31-9 during the last game of the season, sending a message to the rest of the league.

The Commanders are led by QB Jayden Daniels. The 2023 Heisman winner and second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has been lights out his rookie season. Daniels became the first rookie to lead his team in passing and rushing in an NFL Wild Card playoff win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, throwing for two touchdowns on 268 yards.

The Lions had a much-needed break, as the team rested several injured players. David Montgomery looks to play after it was thought the running back would be done for the season. If he’s unavailable, the Lions will rely on weapons like Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Jameson Williams.
