LIONEL MESSI has extended his stay at MLS side Inter Miami with his new contract not set to expire until he is 41.
The Argentine legend signed a further three-year deal in the States with an announcement coming on Thursday afternoon.

Captioned “HE’S HOME”, Inter revelled in boasting that their star player is hanging around for a while yet.
Messi has already scored 71 times since his move from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023.
During that time, the former Barcelona man has played 82 times, assisting another 37 and is hoping to cap off another stellar season with the MLS Cup.
Inter finished third in the Eastern Conference with 19 wins and eight draws from their 34 games.

Messi managed 28 goals and 16 assists from his 28 appearances and is now preparing to face Nashville in the play-offs.
Inter, now managed by fellow former Argentina and Barcelona pro Javier Mascherano, beat Nashville 5-2 last week in the last game of the standard season.
Messi scored a hat-trick in that game and is in contention to win the MLS MVP award for a second season in a row. He would be the first player ever to do so.
The 38-year-old has already taken the Golden Boot for his exploits and inspired the club to the Supporters Shield in 2024 as well.

Messi’s initial two-and-a-half year contract shattered American soccer precedents but has proved to be worth the effort.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has played more times for Inter than he did at PSG and continues to break records ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Despite his age, the forward is still a big part of Lionel Scaloni’s international plans and managed two goals in a friendly against Puerto Rico earlier this month.
Messi is closing in on his 200th cap for his country and could pass that mark at the tournament next summer.
