LIONEL MESSI has already won the Ballon d’Or a record eight times and got his hands on countless titles – but he has made yet more history.

The Argentine superstar spearheaded Inter Miami into the MLS Eastern Conference Final with a comfortable 4-0 win against FC Cincinnati on Sunday.

Messi played a crucial role in the victory – finding the back of the net and grabbing another THREE assists.

And that allowed the World Cup winner to reach a major career milestone as he bids to add to his personal trophy haul.

Messi took his tally to a mind-blowing 1,300 goal involvements during his stunning performance.

He has got his name on the scoresheet 896 times during his career, with an additional 404 assists being notched along the way.

And Messi, 38, shattered another record as Inter Miami booked their place in the Eastern Conference Final for the first time in the club’s history.

That is because the playmaker made it 12 goal contributions in this season’s play-offs, which is the highest number recorded by a player in a single MLS post-season.

Messi opened the scoring after just 19 minutes in Ohio, before laying on assists for Mateo Silvetti and Tadeo Allende – who bagged a brace – in the second half.

Inter Miami, who have England legend Sir David Beckham among their owners, will face Philadelphia Union or New York City for a place in the MLS Cup Final.

There, the winners will take on the winners of the Western Conference on December 6.

Messi committed his long-term future to Inter Miami by penning a new three-year contract last month.

That will result in him remaining on the pitch until the age of 41 and allow him to lead the Floridian side into their new home – Miami Freedom Park – in April 2026.

Messi headed to MLS after enjoying trophy-laden spells with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Inter Miami also have the likes of Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba in their star-studded squad, while they are managed by former Liverpool man Javier Mascherano.
