Lennox Lewis believes IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois will come out victorious against unified three-belt champ Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch on Saturday night in Wembley. Lewis states that Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) isn’t the “same fighter” that he’d been when Usyk knocked him out in the ninth round in 2023.

Lewis Backs “New” Dubois
Lennox says Dubois has “proven himself” with his last three victories over Anthony Joshua, Filip Hrgovic, and Jarrell Miller. He says, “I know he’s ready.”
Fans view Dubois as a protected, overhyped, mentally weak. The way Daniel has been clinging to the low blow narrative, making a case for being robbed of a victory against Usyk in 2023, is viewed as utterly pathetic. Dubois was outclassed entirely in that fight and was getting schooled by Oleksandr up to the point where he quit on one knee in the ninth.
“This fight is going to be a different fight. Daniel Dubois isn’t going to be the same fighter that you saw 18 months ago. He’s prime, he’s ready, and looking forward to this fight,” said Lennox Lewis to Ring Magazine YouTube channel, discussing this Saturday’s rematch between Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk.
Dubois: Same Fighter, No Evolution
How can this fight be any different than before? Dubois is the same fighter, but slower, heavier, carrying 15 pounds more weight than in his first fight with Usyk. He hasn’t evolved as a fighter over the last three fights. Dubois, 27, is still the same basic slugger who lacks any ring IQ.
On the battlefield, Daniel has shown that he loses his mind, goes to pieces mentally, when things are going against him. Rather than stick it out to the end, he gives up, surrenders, and takes the easy way out by quitting. He did it the last time he fought Usyk, and the only reason he hasn’t done it against anyone is because his opposition has been mediocre ever since.
Lennox’s Blind Dubois Faith
“He’s proven himself over his last three fights, and he’s ready for this fight. I actually know he’s ready for this fight,” Lewis continued about Dubois. “This is the pinnacle of what he’s been working for in the last 10 years. This is what he wants. The road to the undisputed. This is it. He was this close to it before [on the doorstep]. He wants to cross the bridge this time,” said Lewis.
What is Lennox blabbering about? Dubois hasn’t proven himself. That’s the whole problem. If Dubois had proven himself, he would have beaten talents like Agit Kabayel, Moses Itauma, Joseph Parker, Richard Torrez Jr., and Bakhodir Jalalov.
He’s beaten these soft opponents:
- Anthony Joshua: An older, washed-up former champion who was carefully maneuvered by his promoter throughout his pro career. He never was that good, as we saw when he came close to losing to 39-year-old Wladimir Klitschko in 2017, and was knocked out by Andy Ruiz.
- Filip Hrgovic: A basic slugger with poor stamina and no solid wins on his resume. This was another overhyped, carefully matched fighter.
- Jarrell Miller: Another older fighter. The 36-year-old ‘Big Baby’ Miller is a fringe-level contender who has done nothing with his career and never beaten any of the top fighters.
