A LEAGUE ONE clash has been suspended due to a medical emergency.
The worrying scenes occurred as Burton Albion took on Port Vale this afternoon.
Soon after half-time at the Pirelli Stadium, an emergency occurred in the away end where the Port Vale fans were sat.
Supporters alerted the players and officials, with the game then halted.
Burton medical staff rushed into the stands to attend to the individual.
The match was suspended for eight minutes while treatment was given to the fan.
Paramedics eventually removed the Port Vale supporter from the stands and continued to give care away from the terraces.
Fans from both clubs applauded while they left the stadium.
A Port Vale statement read: “Our thoughts are with the supporter affected who’s received medical attention.
“We’d like to thank the medical staff for their response.”
Fans continued with the praise on social media, with one saying: “Thanks the Burton medical staff, they were brilliant.”
Another added: “Well done to your staff that rushed over. Fair play.”
A third wrote: “Hope they get well soon.”
