Latest Aaron Rodgers-Steelers rumor from Colin Cowherd might be the dumbest one yet

Latest Aaron Rodgers-Steelers rumor from Colin Cowherd might be the dumbest one yet

The Aaron Rodgers saga continues to drag on into another month and that has left far too much time for people to say some crazy things.

The latest comes from FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd, who says he’s hearing Rodgers has yet to give the Pittsburgh Steelers an answer because he wants to wait for the official NFL schedule release, which comes on May 14.

The idea, Cowherd says, is that Rodgers wants to see how many primetime games the Steelers will get. If Pittsburgh gets too many night games, he is going to retire and not join the Steelers.

Believe it or not, Cowherd isn’t the only one saying this. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio told 93.7 The Fan that the Rodgers-schedule theory is “right on the money.”

“(Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio) says on 93.7 The Fan a source told him the theory that Aaron Rodgers is waiting to sign with the Steelers until after the NFL schedule release so the league doesn’t load up on early Steelers primetime games is “right on the money,” host Andrew Fillipponi wrote.

This might actually be the dumbest rumor we’ve heard yet surrounding Rodgers and the Steelers, and that’s saying something with all the garbage that’s been out there.

Florio doesn’t have the greatest track record of accuracy, and Cowherd has been a bad-take machine over the years and wrong on countless subjects. We’d guess this one won’t age well, either.

Regardless of what Rodgers does, the Steelers are going to get plenty of primetime games in 2025. After all, the team has an enormous fan base that brings massive ratings in a primetime slot.

Not to mention, chances are the schedule is already locked in, so it’s highly unlikely things will change with it if Rodgers were to make his decision before May 14.

And, as if all that wasn’t enough, it’s very possible the league has already factored in a possible Rodgers signing into what it does with the Steelers’ schedule.

At this point, if Rodgers is basing his decision on how many early-slot games he gets, he should just retire. But we’d suspect that is not the case and there is instead something else behind his indecision.
