L.A. Chargers schedule 2025: Dates & times for all 17 games, strength of schedule and predictions

The Chargers finished the 2024 NFL season with an 11-6 record and in second place in the AFC West. It was a successful first year under Jim Harbaugh, but Los Angeles could not prevent Kansas City from winning its ninth consecutive division title.

The Chargers will still see the Chiefs, Raiders, and Broncos twice per season due to two divisional games apiece. Los Angeles should still have the upper hand on a rebuilding Las Vegas squad, but Denver has improved greatly and Kansas City is still the team to beat. No matter how you look at it, the Chargers have a tough divisional schedule.

Playing in the AFC West already puts Los Angeles behind the eight-ball for a successful season, and the division drew the NFC East this season. The Giants are rebuilding, but Philadelphia just won the Super Bowl over Kansas City, Washington improved greatly under quarterback Jayden Daniels and head coach Dan Quinn, and Dallas should rebound if it can stay healthy.

The second year of the Harbaugh era in Los Angeles is about to commence. The pressure is mounting to not only make the playoffs again but also unseat the Chiefs atop the AFC West and take home the franchise’s divisional title since 2009 when it was still in San Diego.

Here is a complete breakdown of the Chargers’ 2025 schedule, including dates, start times, and analysis for all 17 games.

Chargers strength of schedule

Heading into the 2024 season, there was hope for the first year of the Harbaugh era to be successful. Los Angeles was tied for the ninth-easiest strength of schedule. Of course, strength of schedule is based on opponents’ winning percentages from a year prior, and the Chargers have shown that a lot can change in the course of a year. Los Angeles took advantage of its schedule, finishing 11-6 but got knocked out of the first round of the playoffs by the Texans.

Strength of schedule is still based solely on how this year’s opponents did last year. Los Angeles, on paper, plays a tougher schedule in 2025. The Chargers are tied for the 11th-toughest strength of schedule with an opponent winning percentage of .522 last season.

Toughest tests: The call is coming from inside the house. The Chiefs and the Broncos are not going to be easy games. Kansas City still has Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Andy Reid together and is expected to be as formidable as ever. The Chargers dropped both games to the Chiefs last season. Denver rebounded strongly with Bo Nix under center in 2024, finishing just one game behind Los Angeles in the divisional standings.

Los Angeles has to deal with Dallas and Miami on the road outside of the division and will have tough home tests against Houston, Philadelphia, and Washington.

Biggest breaks: The rebuilding Raiders are going to be interesting. Pete Carroll is back in the NFL and at the helm of Las Vegas, and they just drafted running back Ashton Jeanty, who tore up the competition at Boise State. The Raiders are rebuilding, and if it is a slower rebuild, that would help give the Chargers two easier matchups on the schedule.

Outside of the division, Los Angeles draws the rebuilding Giants, Colts, Jaguars, and Titans.

Chargers record prediction

  • Over/under win total: 9.5 (per BetMGM)

Bottom line: Los Angeles is in a good position to win double-digit games. The Chargers still have Justin Herbert, re-signed Khalil Mack, and re-vamped their running back room with Najee Harris and rookie Omarion Hampton. Los Angeles brought in defensive help through the draft and signed former Steelers cornerback Donte Jackson. The Chargers should be able to have a good season. When you look at their 17-game slate, though, most of their games will be tough. That’s not to say that the Chargers can’t win, but they will likely be underdogs or extremely narrow favorites in most of their games this season.

Every team needs to stay healthy, but it really feels like Los Angeles is a few minor injuries or one big injury from finishing with seven wins as opposed to a possible division winner. The best-case divisional scenario is probably splitting with Kansas City and Denver and sweeping Las Vegas. The Chargers likely aren’t going to be able to knock off all of the Eagles, Commanders, Texans, Vikings, Cowboys, and Dolphins, but they shouldn’t lose all of those games, either.

The good thing for Los Angeles is that games against the Jaguars, Steelers, Giants, and Titans should help them just barely eclipse their win total line.

Record prediction: 10-7
