KHAN EYES MAIDEN LEGENDS TOUR WIN ON HOME TURF

Simon Khan will bid for his maiden Legends Tour victory this week when the Grass & Co. English Legends takes place at Brocket Hall in Hertfordshire.

The 2010 BMW PGA champion has been a consistent performer since turning 50, with several near-misses already this season including sixth at the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship. Now in his fourth season on the senior circuit, the Essex-born player hopes local knowledge can give him the edge on home turf.

“I’ve practised hard and feel my game’s in a good place,” said Khan, who has twice won on the DP World Tour. “I’ve had a lot of close calls, so it would be lovely to finally get that win. Playing more relaxed is the key for me.”

This week’s tournament marks the final appearance of two-time senior major champion Roger Chapman, who bows out after a 50-year career. The field also features Ryder Cup legends Colin Montgomerie and Paul Lawrie, along with six winners from this season’s Legends Tour, including Order of Merit leader Scott Hend.

Brocket Hall’s Palmerston course, regarded as one of England’s finest parkland layouts, will host the €450,000 event. Tickets are available online, with free entry for under-16s.
