Keyshawn Davis says he wants to fight three more times in 2025 because he’s been quickly knocking out the opposition Top Rank has been matching him up against. He reiterated that he wants former WBA light welterweight champion Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz next, and he feels that the fight will be a money-maker for both of them in Las Vegas.

Keyshawn is going to have to come down to Earth and realize that the Cruz fight isn’t going to happen, just like the Gervonta Davis fight. He’s in the same boat as the tall 6’1″ Paul Williams was when he was fighting. That guy couldn’t get fights either because of his colossal size, and he was forced to move up in weight. Keyshawn probably won’t do that because he’s not a risk-taker and is content with getting easy money fights against soft opposition rather than moving up to 154 or 160 to fight guys his size.

Cruz Target

“This guy I want to fight next, he’s a Mexican. He has a big following. He’s well-known. Both of us can make a lot of money off this fight,” said Keyshawn Davis to TMZ Sports about his hopes to fight Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz next.

“I would love to fight Isaac Cruz. I want to be back three more times this year. “I did three full rounds this fight, and then my last fight, I did one full round. I haven’t been getting any rounds.”

Keyshawn would get more rounds if his promoters at Top Rank were willing to put him against tough opposition. Up to now, he’s been matched against lesser guys who are much smaller than him and lack talent. If you look at his resume, you’ll see that every fight has been a guaranteed win. That’s the Edgar Berlanga route of creating a fake star.

Keyshawn Needs to Fight These Talents

– Andy Cruz
– Ernesto Mercado
– Vergil Ortiz Jr.
– Israil Madrimov
– Raymond Muratalla
– Jaron Ennis
– Janibek Alimkhanuly

Keyshawn has the size to fight all those guys, but he won’t do it. He’s ‘The Businessman,’ and he’s not about to take risks. He’s like an oil well intentionally kept at a low yield so that it won’t become a dry-duster quickly.

Davis’ promoters aren’t going to put him in with them because he might lose, and they’d have wasted their investment. They’re trying to create a star but using the backdoor method rather than with risky fights. That’s why Keyshawn won’t fight Andy Cruz and is targeting the 5’4″ Pitbull Cruz instead.

“It’s a Las Vegas fight, and who doesn’t want to come to Las Vegas and watch a big fight? And our styles just match up so much. It’s going to be an incredible fight,” said Keyshawn.

It will be next to impossible for Keyshawn to get three more fights in 2025 because Top Rank will have problems getting dates for him to headline. Obviously, he would insist on headlining, and that would be impossible. Even if he were willing to fight on the undercard, financially, it wouldn’t work out.

If Keyshawn believed in himself and wasn’t just focused on being a “businessman,” as he calls himself, he’d fight Andy Cruz, who beat him four times in the amateurs. He won’t do it because he’s focusing his career on the wrong thing: Easy money fights.

Keyshawn, 5’9″, says he and Pitbull Cruz, 5’4″, have styles that “match up so much.” Cruz is as small as Keyshawn’s recent opponent, Gustavo Lemos, who was too short to land any punches against him in their two-round fight.  Cruz (27-3-1, 18 KOs) would be another size mismatch in favor of Keyshawn. It’ll be surprising if that fight gets made because it would not favor Pitbull. The promoters for Cruz won’t want to feed him to Keyshawn and watch him lose.

Davis, 25, captured the WBO lightweight title in a fourth-round knockout of Denys Berinchyk on February 14th in New York. The 36-year-old Berinchyk looked considerably smaller than Keyshawn after the Norfolk, Virginia native rehydrated for the fight. Whatever chance Berinchyk had of winning, it was impossible due to the size difference.
