Keyshawn Davis seemed pleased at reacting to WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis’ 12 round majority draw against Lamont Roach last Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Davis sounds like a typical spoiled brat, who has gotten his way his entire life, and can’t handle it when a person lets him know they’re not interested. Tank gave Keyshawn the ‘get lost’ hint this week, telling him to fight his ‘Brother’ Shakur Stevenson, and he’d fight the winner. He knows full well that Keyshawn would never do that. So, he was tactically blowing him off.

WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn had recently said that he would stop calling out Tank Davis, but he’s again back at it. Keyshawn believes he has a better chance of fighting Tank and beating him now that he’s coming off a draw.

Real Rivals

He sounds confused and lacks self-belief to take on the killers to build himself up instead of looking to worm his way into a fight. Keyshawn hasn’t fought good enough opposition to be given a fight against Tank.

The way that he’s pursuing Gervonta seems unhealthy. If he believed in himself, he’d run the gauntlet against these killers:

  1. Andy Cruz
  2. Ernesto Mercado
  3. Gary Antuanne Russell
  4. Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis
  5. Vergil Ortiz Jr
  6. Janibel Alimkhanuly

That could change quickly if Keyshawn took on six good fighters and beat them, but he’s ‘The Businessman’ and swerved all the fights he needs. In other words, Keyshawn just wants Tank to give him the fight on a silver platter, after beating 13 scrubs and hounding him day & night.

Tank: Unreachable?

“If you give me either or before their rematch, I’m f**** their rematch up,” said Keyshawn Davis on social media, talking about last Saturday night’s Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach fight. “I want one of them. There’s no one else. Man, I’m a world champ now,” said Keyshawn about him realizing it’s a race against time.

“I’m the best at 135. The fight [Tank vs. Roach] done said it all. It’s a different conversation now when you add ‘The Businessman’ [Keyshawn’s nickname that he’s given to himself] vs. Gervonta. I’m punching. Either one of those guys, I’m knocking them out.”

Tank ain’t going to fight Keyshawn. He needs to give up on that hopeless dream because he sounds like someone who is obsessed and won’t let go.

The Norfolk, Virginia native Keyshawn wouldn’t need Tank Davis to give him a payday fight if he’d just fight those four to transform himself into a PPV star without the boost up. Obviously, Keyshawn would likely lose to all four, but just imagine if he won? Top Rank wouldn’t have a genuine star.

Weight Crunch

Keyshawn is desperate to get a big-money fight against Tank Davis or Roach because he knows he can’t keep draining down from middleweight to make the 135-lb limit much longer. He’s huge for the lightweight division, and there aren’t many viable fighters willing to fight someone his size for the money offered.

Only two or three contenders would bring Keyshawn any money, and none of them would be willing to fight him for what would be offered. He’s NOT a PPV attraction, which means his promoters at Top Rank would need to overpay the opponent and likely lose a lot of money to get someone for Keyshawn.

He can’t get the fighters he wants, and he cannot make 135 for much longer before he’s forced to move up to 147, 154 or 160. Moving up to 140 won’t be enough. It’s literally a race against time for the monstrously huge Keyshawn.

Keyshawn’s Wishlist

Gervonta Davis
Lamont Roach
Isaac Cruz
Frank Martin
Vasiliy Lomachenko
William Zepeda

Keyshawn can only get Andy Cruz, but he doesn’t want to fight him because he’d lose. The Cuban talent has already whipped him four times, and he doesn’t want a fifth defeat.
