Keith Thurman had the media eating out of his hand today, selling his March 12th fight against Brock Jarvis during his workout. Thurman is fighting Jarvis in a 10-round bout at junior middleweight at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, Australia.

Thurman will get a big payday against former WBO junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu if he’s victorious against Brock Jarvis (22-1, 20 KOs). This fight sets up the much bigger one for the 36-year-old Thurman against Tszyu, who is still popular in Australia despite losing his last two fights against Bakhram Murtazaliev and Sebastian Fundora.

“Hit and Not Get Hit”

“If I want to have eyes on me and I want to pop up on everyone’s feed, I think a terrific knockout does that,” said Keith Thurman during the media workout to promote his 10-round fight against Aussie Brock Jarvis on March 12th in Sydney.

“I’m ready to fight at 36. The definition of boxing is to ‘hit and not get hit,’ and after five years, that philosophy has not changed,” said Thurman about why he’s coming back after a three-year layoff to fight Jarvis. “I’m here to showcase my skills and my talent.”

Liam Paro knocked Brock Jarvis out in the first round on October 15, 2022. He was entirely out of his class going up against Paro, and obliterated in a fight that was in no way competitive. Since that loss, Brock, 27, has fought just twice, beating second-tier fighters Adrian Rodriguez (13-10-2) and Marlon Paniamogan (11-2-1).

The former WBA and WBC welterweight champion Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs) says people are driven by “fear, passion, and love.” Fans aren’t buying that as why Keith is coming back. He’s obviously coming back for the money.

If old ‘One Time’ was still in love with the sport, he wouldn’t have been so inactive since 2017. He says he’s had injury problems, but that doesn’t wash with people, Injuries don’t keep a fighter as inactive as Thurman has been.
