“We’re still trying to figure the details out but I do have one more fight this year. It’s kind of like my retirement fight. It has been an amazing journey, the whole lot of it, over these last 20 years.

“I have had highs and low. It has been an incredible, remarkable career and I always wanted to end it here in Ireland.”

Croke Park remains her preferred venue. Negotiations have not yet produced an agreement, but Aviva Stadium and the 3Arena are alternative options if needed.

“I just want to fight in Dublin to end my career. Obviously we’re still hoping for Croke Park, we’re hanging on to a bit of hope that it can happen. If it doesn’t happen there are plenty of options there.”

A date and opponent are still to be confirmed. Taylor indicated the bout is likely to land in July or August.

Taylor remains undisputed at super lightweight in theory. The WBC has named her “Champion in Recess,” and Sandy Ryan has since won the vacant belt. Edith Soledad Matthysse recently secured interim WBA status. If Taylor elects to defend any portion of the championship structure in her final fight, sanctioning alignment will be required.

Taylor last fought in July, completing a trilogy victory over Amanda Serrano to retain her super lightweight titles. That win capped one of the defining rivalries of her era.

Her closing bout is less about finances or rankings and more about location. The emphasis is on finishing at home.

“Irish people have been so amazing to me throughout my whole career,” Taylor said. “It means so much to me. I’m just so grateful for that support and so grateful to be Irish.”

The venue is still being finalized. The opponent has not been confirmed.

Katie Taylor plans to close her professional career in Dublin, with the title picture expected to shift once she steps away.
