Jordan Love ‘dealing’ at Packers minicamp as he looks to silence regression talk

The Green Bay Packers made a major decision on Monday, releasing veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander—once a key piece of their defense when healthy. The move removes a potential distraction from the team, allowing the rest of the roster to focus and play freely.

Quarterback Jordan Love is gearing up for what he hopes will be a breakout season as he aims to lead the Packers to a division title in a stacked NFC North. One highly anticipated moment this year will be his matchup against the quarterback he once looked up to—Aaron Rodgers. For Love, it’s about more than just football.

“It’s going to be fun. It’s going to be awesome. I’m excited for it,” said Packers QB Jordan Love. “I can’t wait to be on different sides, meeting up and I know we’ll talk pre-game, things like that. And hopefully we can exchange jerseys after.”

The Packers also drafted wide receiver Matthew Golden, and Love is already impressed with what he’s seen from the rookie.

“Just the start we’ve had … he looks like a stud, looks like a very polished receiver,” Love said.

However, not everything this offseason has been smooth for Love. Some critics have claimed he regressed last season—but he was quick to respond.

“What is a step back, is what I’d ask,” Love said “Everybody has different opinions, things like that. You’ve got to block that stuff out. It’s all about the goals of the team. At the end of the day, I’d say we won more games than we did the year before.”

Thursday marked the final day of mandatory minicamp for the Packers, and by all accounts, Love ended it on a high note. According to Packer Report’s Andy Herman.

“Love to Doubs in the back of the end zone for a TD in 7x7s. Love is dealing right now,” Herman wrote.

There’s no question that Jordan Love is motivated to silence the critics, and by the looks of it, he’s already off to a strong start. The Packers are counting on a big year from their quarterback.
