Jermell Charlo Demands $10 Million More To Face Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis Or Terence Crawford After Two-Year Layoff

Jermell Charlo Demands Million More To Face Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis Or Terence Crawford After Two-Year Layoff

Jermell Charlo came out of the woodwork on Friday, calling out Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Terence Crawford, setting his price tag of “$10 million more” to step back in the ring.

No Tune-Ups: Charlo Wants Only Big Fights

Charlo isn’t talking about taking a tune-up to get himself ready to pick up the loot against Bud or Ennis. He wants to jump straight into the colossal payday fight.

That figure sounds a bit high for the inactive Jermell, but it might be realistic with the inflated paydays that less accomplished fighters are getting. Another older inactive fighter, Keith Thurman, is about to cash in, too, with a comeback.

Turki Alalshikh Won’t Bite

I can’t see Turki Alalshikh wanting to get involved in a fight with Jermell. He’ll have noted the lack of effort from Charlo in his last fight two years ago, and likely wouldn’t get involved in another Tom and Jerry fight. We already saw Terence Crawford in full Jerry mode against Canelo Alvarez, ruining the “Fight of the Century.” What a mess Bud made of that fight.

It’s doubtful Bud Crawford would indulge Jermell. His tastes are on the expensive side now after getting a giant $50 million payday against Canelo Alvarez last September.

The 35-year-old former undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell (35-2-1, 19 KOs) has been inactive for over two years since losing to Canelo Alvarez by a lopsided 12-round unanimous decision on September 30, 2023.

Canelo Paycheck Still Echoes

The twin Jermell just stopped fighting altogether after hauling in an estimated $20 million for the fight against the then IBF, WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion Canelo. With that kind of payday, it’s understandable why Charlo hasn’t fought since. He’s got a beautiful sprawling mansion in Houston, Texas, that rivals the White House.

The $10 Million Comeback Demand

“10 million more, though. Yeah, add a little bit more,” said Jermell Charlo on social media about his price tag to get back in the ring.

It’s quite possible that Jaron Ennis and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, will take the fight with Jermell. As we saw with ‘Boots’ recent fight against Uisma Lima on October 11, their standards aren’t nearly as high as Crawford’s. It would make ‘Boots’ look bad if he does fight Jermell rather than Vergil Ortiz Jr. or one of the other champions at 154, but no worse than he already did against Lima.

“I think I think ‘Boots’ is a great fight, though. I’ll give ‘Boots’ all the problems in the world. He’s a great fighter, but I give him all the problems in the world; I think Styles make fights. ‘Boots’ come get it, Boots That’,” said Jermell.

Now, Charlo is getting carried away with his talk. He’s not beating ‘Boots’ at this stage, or any point in his career. Jermell wasn’t that kind of talent. We saw how he lost to Tony Harrison, struggled against Brian Castano, and Austin Trout when he was still active. The loss to Canelo was just embarrassing because Jermell looked like he didn’t even try to win.

“Spence, too. Yeah, Terence [Crawford] can get it, too,” said Jermell.
