For two years, the pain of the Eagles’ Super Bowl 57 loss stuck with Jalen Hurts.
The Eagles’ quarterback, who was masterful in the February 2023 game but lost 38-35 to the Chiefs, had been waiting to return to the NFL’s biggest stage ever since. And just two seasons later, Hurts didn’t just get another chance for his first ring — he also got an opportunity for revenge against Kansas City.
Philadelphia dismantled the Chiefs on both sides of the ball Sunday, winning 40-22 to claim its second title in franchise history. For Hurts, who won Super Bowl MVP, the victory was a clear sign that all of his hard work and motivation had paid off. And for the last two years, fans were aware of at least one way Hurts was remaining focused on winning: His screensaver.
Here’s what to know about Hurts’ screensaver over the last two years and how it all came full circle for the Eagles’ quarterback with his Super Bowl win.

What was Jalen Hurts’ screensaver?
After the Eagles lost to the Chiefs in February 2023, a photo of Hurts’ screensaver on his phone made its way around social media. It was a picture of him in the closing moments of Super Bowl 57, when red and yellow confetti rained down in Arizona for Kansas City’s victory.

Super Bowl 57 revisited
Super Bowl 57 in Glendale, Arizona, was a true back-and-forth thriller between Philadelphia and Kansas City. In the first half, the Eagles ran out to a 24-14 lead thanks to two rushing touchdowns from Hurts, plus a touchdown pass from the quarterback to A.J. Brown.
This play in the Super Bowl was insane.

Unlike Super Bowl 59 though, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs kept things close. Travis Kelce snagged a touchdown pass in the first quarter, while Nick Bolton recovered a fumble from Hurts and took it for a 36-yard touchdown.

Despite Philadelphia’s first-half advantage prior to the Rihanna halftime show, Kansas City came storming back. Touchdowns from Isiah Pacheco, Kadarius Toney and Sky Moore made it 35-27 Chiefs in the fourth quarter.
Hurts, though, executed a massive drive to tie the game at 35, punching the ball into the end zone on a tush push and then picking up the two-point conversion. With around five minutes remaining, Kansas City got the ball back.
Mahomes got the Chiefs down to the Eagles’ 15-yard line, prime field-goal territory as the clock was winding down. Philadelphia nearly got a defensive stop with enough time remaining to execute a game-tying or winning drive, but a flag came in on a 3rd & 8; James Bradberry was called for holding on JuJu Smith-Schuster.

That flag ultimately allowed the Chiefs to run the clock down and kick a game-winning field goal with eight seconds remaining. Hurts did get one last Hail Mary play, but it came up way short.
