EMMA RADUCANU broke down in tears in her match against Jaqueline Cristian.

The Brit reached the Round of 16 at the Korea Open following her 6-3 6-4 win.

But she was visibly struggling in the first set and broke into tears.

The incident occurred in the seventh game with the score 3-3, though Raducanu was two break points down.

Raducanu, 22, took her time before every serve and was able to rally to win the game despite her emotions.

She admitted after the match that it was difficult for her, so she was delighted to progress.

She explained: “It hasn’t been easy.

“I feel like I’ve played this match the last three days. To have pulled through after waiting, I’m super pleased at how I came through.

“Jaqueline is a really tough opponent and has had great results recently.

“[They were] tough conditions, very slow, long rallies and long points, so happy to have got through.”

Raducanu, who is the eighth seed at the event, faces Barbora Krejčíková in the next round.

It is her first taste of action since her US Open third-round defeat to Elena Rybakina.
