Isaac Guerendo was elevated from third-string running back to the 49ers starter in Week 14, filling in for Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason, who were added to injured reserve this week.
Guerendo balled out against the Bears’ defense, posting 15 carries for 78 yards and two touchdowns. He also brought in both of his receptions for 50 additional yards. Unfortunately, his momentum ended when he got hurt in the fourth quarter.
The running back woes continued for San Francisco, as it had to dig even deeper for someone to carry the ball. The 49ers are also on a short week and will face the Rams in a big NFC West matchup on Thursday.
Here are the latest injury updates for Guerendo.

Isaac Guerendo injury update
During the matchup, Guerendo was diagnosed with a foot injury and labeled “questionable” to return, though he remained out after heading to the locker room.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Guerendo has a foot sprain, and he’ll be evaluated over the coming days to see if he’ll be available on Thursday vs. the Rams, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
It’s unclear when Guerendo suffered the foot sprain, but he was taken to the locker room before Sunday’s game was over. If Guerendo can’t play on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 15, the 49ers will have to go even deeper into their running back depth chart.
