A Jets season that began with Super Bowl hopes is just about out of playoff hopes. At 3-7, New York needs a miracle and then some to reach its goals, but just finishing strong would be a small win for a downtrodden franchise.

Davante Adams is going to be crucial to whether the Jets can stack some wins together. The offense was clicking in Week 9 when Adams flashed his impressive connection with Aaron Rodgers, and it’s not a coincidence the Jets started slow in Week 10 when Adams was held without a catch in the first half.

If the Jets can’t get Adams on the field against the Colts in Week 11, Rodgers and the offense could be in for another uphill battle.

Here what you need to know about Adams’ injury status for Sunday’s game.

Is Davante Adams playing this week?

Adams is likely to suit up against the Colts, interim coach Jeff Ulbrich told reporters Friday, though he is officially listed as questionable on the Jets’ injury report.

The veteran missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday with both a wrist injury and an illness, but he was back on the field Friday and appears to be in good shape ahead of Sunday’s game between two sub-.500 teams.

The news is positive for the Jets, who couldn’t be sure they would have Adams available after he missed back-to-back practices. Adams’ presence also impacts Garrett Wilson, forcing the defenses to take at least some of the attention away from the third-year standout.

Jets WR depth chart

WR Player
1 Garrett Wilson
2 Davante Adams
3 Allen Lazard*
4 Xavier Gipson
5 Malachi Corley
6 Irvin Charles

— Out with injury.

Wilson and Adams figure to handle the bulk of the workload among Jets receivers against the Colts as long as the latter is healthy, but options behind the pair are limited.

With Allen Lazard on IR, Xavier Gipson and Malachi Corley are New York’s top reserves. Both have played limited roles this season, though Corley has started to see his role expand slightly over the last two weeks.

Corley could have been next up for an expanded opportunity if Adams was ruled out for Sunday, but the veteran appears to be on track to play and handle a heavy volume from Rodgers.

Davante Adams fantasy outlook

The Jets have struggled to create big plays, so Wilson and Adams have been limited to fairly short gains to this point, but the volume is high enough that both are viable fantasy options.

Adams only caught six of 13 targets from Rodgers against the Cardinals last week, but it’s clear his former Packers teammate wants to get him the ball. It was Adams’ second consecutive week with double-digit targets, and Rodgers isn’t going to give up on one of his close friends who still has the ability to be a high-end receiver.

New York’s passing game should be positioned for more success against a shakier Colts pass defense, which ranks 28th in passing yards allowed and slightly below average in passer rating and passing touchdowns. With nice weather in the forecast, the outlook for the passing game is positive.

The only concern might be the Jets jumping out to an early lead, as it wouldn’t be a surprise to see OC Todd Downing commit to the running game after seeing improved efficiency from Breece Hall in recent weeks. With the Jets, though, an early lead is something fantasy owners might have to see to believe.
