Interesting Premier League stats that should dictate your Dream Team strategy

DREAM TEAM incorporates several competitions but the Premier League makes up the bulk of the schedule.

It’s therefore beneficial for managers to be highly informed about the various dynamics at work in the most watched league in the world.

We’ve collated some key stats and facts that might help you devise a successful strategy.

Home Discomforts

Only Wolves have earned fewer points at home than Tottenham but the North Londoners boast the best away record in the division.

Typically, teams perform better on their own patch and Dream Team bosses take this into account when targeting certain match-ups but Spurs have bucked this trend to an extreme degree.

Chelsea and Crystal Palace have also fared better on the road this campaign, though the difference between their totals is not as stark as Thomas Frank’s mob.

Home Sick

In contrast, Brentford are a force to be reckoned with at the Gtech Stadium but easy pickings on the road.

The Bees have amassed 16 points at home, only Arsenal and Manchester City have more at this stage, but they’ve lost six games out of seven away.

This is important information as it dictates whether Brentford are a favourable or formidable opponent on a week-by-week basis.

Bournemouth, Fulham and Leeds are also much stronger at home than they are away.

Airtight

It’s hardly a revelation but it’s worth outlining the extent to which Arsenal are in a league of their own in terms of defence.

The Gunners have conceded seven goals from 14 games with eight clean sheets.

And the underlying numbers suggest they are good value for this immense record.

Mikel Arteta’s side have conceded 101 shots, 28 fewer than their closest rivals, and just 28 of those have been on target.

Expected goals (xG) measures the quality of chances and this metric shows Arsenal have hardly given their opponents a sniff.

City Slickers

In attack, it’s Man City who top the charts.

Led by the prolific Erling Haaland, Pep Guardiola’s troops have scored 32 goals, five more than anyone else.

They’ve registered the joint-most shots on target (71) alongside Chelsea and have generated the most xG.

Earlier in the season, there was a lot of talk about how City were overly reliant on their No9 to score goals but that chatter has evaporated now Phil Foden has four in his last two outings.

Form Guide

Aston Villa are top of the form table right now having taken 15 points from their last six games.

This makes Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off at Villa Park against league leaders Arsenal the standout match-up of Gameweek 14.

At the other end of the form table, Bournemouth rank 18th having mustered just four points from the last six.

No team has conceded more goals in this time frame.

Some gaffers may still be thinking of the Cherries as an opponent to avoid but they’ve given up more than their fair share of points lately.

Liverpool and Spurs are 15th and 17th respectively in the form table, something that has undoubtedly impacted Dream Team transfer activity.

Make sure you keep up to date with all the stats that matter in relation to the Premier League.

You never know what nugget of information might push you up the leaderboard.
