Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney got involved in a back-and-forth argument during the Fatal Fury roundtable on Friday. Kingry revealed his conspiracy theory behind his testing positive for a banned PED last April after his fight with Haney in Brooklyn, New York.

The Setup Theory

Garcia says he thinks it was a setup to be popped for PEDs “in case they lost.” He says that Haney’s brother knew about it ahead of time, which is what tipped him off that it was a setup job to give Devin an excuse for his loss. After Ryan revealed his conspiracy idea, he and Haney argued back and forth.

Ryan Garcia: “I felt that I won the fight no matter what. I think that was setup in case they lost. That’s how I truly feel,” said Ryan to Ring Magazine, talking his conspiracy theory about his fight against Devin Haney and his subsequent positive test for a banned PED afterwards. “What rubs me the wrong way was how his brother knew that I was going to test positive.”

Devin Haney: “How could you set it up?”

Ryan: “How do you know?”

Haney: “How could you set it up? You said you had a dream.”

Ryan: “How do you know? Nobody wants to answer that question.”

Haney: “He didn’t know.”

Without proof that he was set up, Ryan sounded paranoid and too well-grounded. The only information available is that Garcia has tested positive. The claims he was making about it being a conspiracy sounded like a half-baked idea that made no sense at all.

Garcia on His Win

Todd Grisham: That left hook was the money shot, but outside of those rounds you dropped him with the left hook, he was winning most if not all of those rounds. Do you feel you’re getting a little too overreliant on that left hook?”

Ryan Garcia: “No, I’ve always had that in my arsenal since I was an amateur. Everybody knows it. So, that’s not going to go away. That’s not going to change. I think I had to fight in spots.

“Personally, I think Devin is very sharp. I tried to give him different looks to catch him off balance. Catch him in moments that he’s not prepared for, and I think I did that well. That’s what gave me the victory. He’s not going to be easy in the rematch. I don’t expect it.

“We’re going to come with a good game plan, and I’m ready to prove that I can always beat him.”
