Fans Spoke, Prizefighting.tv Listened: Danny Williams Out, Idris Affini In for ‘The President’s Return

Danny Williams is out, probably for the best. Now it’s Idris Affini stepping into the ring with Ike Ibeabuchi for “The President’s Return” on August 23, 2025, in Lagos. Prizefighting.tv made the change official, confirming that Ibeabuchi will still fight live on PPV. And yes, it’s still a madhouse event. A ghost from boxing’s past now faces a hard-hitting local brawler with nothing to lose.

The fight card is streaming exclusively on pay-per-view at Prizefighting.tv

Ibeabuchi’s comeback gets even weirder

Let’s just say it: the replacement fight might actually be better. Affini may not be a household name, but the man hits like a truck and fights like he owes rent. He’s 18-8-2 with 15 knockouts, and he’s been in there with real African talent like Olanrewaju Durodola and Akani Phuzi. He’s fought for a WBO Africa title. He’s not a tourist.

And he’s not scared. Affini says, “My coach used to talk about Ike Ibeabuchi like a myth. But this is prizefighting. I’m going to knock my idol out.” That’s either madness or honesty, and in this game, there’s not much difference.

“I remember when I was so young and newly came to boxing, my pioneer coach always mentioned the name of Ike Ibeabuchi to us in other to encourage us. He told us how powerful and deadly he was on the ring. He told us Ike Ibeabuchi would have become the greatest boxer that came from Africa and Nigeria at some particular time but for the unexpected circumstances which affected his career.  I must now knock my idol out.  Which I am going to do. This is prizefighting.  This is an opportunity to launch myself and announce my name to the world. Knocking out Ike out will change everything about Afinni Idris Abiodun’s boxing career. This is a great opportunity that I can’t allow slip by,” says Affini.

Ike Ibeabuchi remains undefeated—because for 25 years, nobody’s touched him. He was a monster in the 90s. He beat David Tua. He made Chris Byrd quit. Then he vanished behind bars, wrapped in stories darker than any knockout highlight reel. And now he’s back.

This is a massive opportunity for Idris Affini to test himself against a living legend,” said a spokesperson for Prizefighting.tv. “Ike Ibeabuchi is a fighter of immense talent and power. We believe this matchup will deliver a compelling and unforgettable night of boxing for the fans in Lagos.”
