The Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning renew their rivalry on Friday as they kick off the 2024-2025 NHL season at PNC Arena.

The Hosts are looking to build on their successful 2023-2024 campaign. They did significant chopping and changing in their roster this offseason.

The team parted ways with Jake Guentzel, Teuvo Teravainen, and Evgeny Kuznetsov. However, the Hurricanes tried to fill the void by adding William Carrier, Jack Roslovic, Tyson Jost, and rookie sensation Bradly Nadeau to their roster.

The Lightning, meanwhile, are entering a new era without their longtime captain, Steven Stamkos, who signed with the Nashville Predators this offseason. Victor Hedman takes over the captaincy, and the Lightning will rely on him and players like Nikita Kucherov, Andrei Vasilevskiy, and Brayden Point to lead the way.
