After months and months of rumors and speculation, the Las Vegas Raiders finally had their chance to make a pick in the 2025 NFL draft, and they used their No. 6 overall selection on Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.
Considering Jeanty’s incredible college career, the selection is a very exciting one, as the Boise State superstar solves a major need and brings an elite skill set with him to the NFL. Jeanty isn’t just a strong and explosive runner, he’s also a difference-maker as a pass-catcher and holds up well in pass protection.
Now, the Raiders will turn their attention to Day 2 of the 2025 NFL draft, where they have a total of two picks. The first comes at No. 37 overall (second round), and the second comes at No. 68 overall (third round).
Raiders remaining NFL draft picks
- Round 2: No. 37 (Day 2)
- Round 3: No. 68 (Day 2)
- Round 4: No. 108
- Round 5: No. 143
- Round 6: Nos. 180, 213, 215
- Round 7: No. 222
The Raiders have a grand total of eight picks remaining in the 2025 NFL draft, with at least one in each round and three in the sixth. Las Vegas still has plenty of needs to address, so the team will need all of them.
One position the Raiders could still address is quarterback. The team opted to pass on Shedeur Sanders in the the first round, but so did every other team in the NFL. That means the Raiders could get another crack at him in Round 2.
However, a roadblock remains. The Cleveland Browns will be on the clock twice at the top of the second round before the Raiders pick and still need a quarterback. If the Browns pass on Sanders with their first second-round pick, the Raiders could explore a trade up for him with either the Tennessee Titans or Houston Texans.
While the expectation is that the Browns will end Sanders’ slide, we clearly can’t bank on expectations. After all, few saw Sanders falling as far as he has.
There is another quarterback option beyond Sanders, though, as Alabama’s Jalen Milroe is still on the board. Cleveland could opt to take him over Sanders, or Milroe could be an option for Las Vegas if the Browns take the Colorado quarterback.
