“He’s Miles Off”: David Allen Warns Against Moses Itauma Fighting Joseph Parker for a World Title

British heavyweight David Allen says it would be “irresponsible” matchmaking if the management for 20-year-old Moses Itauma were to throw him in with veteran Joseph Parker if the WBO title falls vacant soon. Allen says Itauma (12-0, 10 KOs) is “miles off” before fighting for a world title, or at least he should be.

Allen’s Warning on Itauma’s Readiness

‘The White Rhino’ Allen notes that no one has seen Itauma fight beyond three rounds, because he’s been knocking out everyone he’s fought almost immediately. We don’t know how Itauma will look once it goes past three rounds.

Moses’ brother, Karol Itauma, was looking like 24k gold in his fights as a pro against tomato cans, but when he was taken past four rounds by journeymen Ezequiel Osvaldo Maderna, he was knocked out.

Creating “Fake Fighters”: A Concern

The 20-year-old Moses Itauma is being matched against similar low-level cans. It’s a great way to create a fake fighter to make money, but putting Itauma in with Parker (36-3, 24 KOs) would expose him to the light of day, showing what his true essence is.

“To go from the opposition he’s been facing to Joseph Parker, it’s just a monumental step. It would be terrible matchmaking. It would be irresponsible. People are talking about Itauma fighting for a world title any time soon,” said Dave Allen to talkSport Boxing about a hypothetical fight between Moses Itauma and Joseph Parker for the WBO heavyweight title if it becomes vacant.

Itauma Miles Off World Title

“He’s miles off. He can beat anybody in two or three rounds, but once it goes past three rounds, we haven’t seen him go past three rounds,” said Allen about Itauma

Moses Itauma is light years off from fighting a talent like Joseph Parker, or any of the other quality heavyweights in the division. It’s not just Parker that would reveal what Itauma is about. These heavyweights would be a nightmare for Itauma because they had the benefit of amateur backgrounds:

“Let the kid develop. I think that’s where it is. It’s not whether he could beat him or not right now. It’s more about the development,” said Spencer Oliver.
