Henry Garcia says Haney team “scared” of Ryan Garcia rematch

Garcia made it clear that he believes the explanation coming from Haney’s side does not hold up. From his perspective, the real obstacle is a reluctance to step back into the ring with Ryan after their previous fight.

“Those are excuses. They’re scared. Bottom line, you’re scared,” Henry Garcia said during the interview with MillCity Boxing.

The remark reflects the frustration from the Garcia camp whenever the subject of a rematch comes up. Henry Garcia has repeatedly argued that the fight should be easy to make if both sides truly want it.

Ryan Garcia has also made his position clear about where he believes the negotiating balance should sit if the fight happens again. He has said more than once that he considers himself the A-side, pointing to his enormous social media following and global popularity as evidence that he brings the larger audience to the event.

Haney has tended to lean on a different argument. His side often references the titles he has won and the championship status he has carried during his career. That difference reflects a reality in modern boxing. Championship belts still carry prestige, but popularity and audience reach often play a larger role when the biggest fights are discussed.

Garcia also rejected the idea that special testing conditions should complicate a potential rematch. He said drug testing is already a routine part of every major fight agreement and suggested the issue is being overstated whenever it comes up in discussions about facing Ryan again.

The disagreement has become part of the public back-and-forth between the two camps whenever the topic of a second fight surfaces. For Henry Garcia, however, the explanation is much simpler. From his viewpoint, the real question is whether Haney’s side actually wants the rematch to happen.
