Solskjaer, 52, wrote himself in the Red Devils history books with his dramatic injury-time winner against Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League Final.

The Norwegian won 10 major trophies in total over 11 seasons at the club, including six Premier League titles.

Then, during his three-year tenure as boss a decade later, he took United to second in the Prem before losing on penalties against Villarreal in the 2021 Europa League final.

Unfortunately, all that success has not stopped Solskjaer receiving stick from former team-mate Keane.

Keane missed that Champions League final in ’99 through suspension.

United were just one game away from making the biggest game in club football again three years later.

And Solskjaer revealed fiery Keane still reminds him of a chance he missed in that semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen.

Solskjaer told the BBC: “There’s one game I would love to play again and score a goal and shut Roy Keane up.

“So Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League semi-final. Every time I meet Roy, he mentions this chance that I missed.

“The ball is just behind me, its a half-volley, I hit it just over the bar and we lose on away goals.

“Every time I see Roy he mentions that one. So that’s the one to change the history.”

That opportunity still haunts the former striker, 23 YEARS on from the away goals defeat.

Keane’s fury at Solskjaer‘s miss is an ever-present example of his winning mentality.

One of the most decorated Irish footballers of all time never lets the Norwegian forget about the chance.

Speaking previously on Stick to Football, Keane said: “I know you have to move on, but Bayer Leverkusen – I can still see Ole’s chance in that game.

“I bring it up when I see him now, I still mention the chance he missed!

“Forget how brilliant he was – I went, ‘f***ing hit the target!’”
