HARRY KANE is in talks to extend his Bayern Munich contract – dashing the hopes of clubs eyeing up his bargain release clause.
The England captain, 32, would be free to leave for just £56.7million this summer if he tells Bayern he wants out by the end of January.
But all signs are now pointing towards an extended stay in Bavaria, where he has scored bucketloads of goals and finally opened his silverware account.
The former Tottenham skipper is under contract at Bayern until the summer of 2027 but club chief Max Eberl says plans to prolong the partnership are in motion.
When asked about potential discussions over a new deal, Eberl revealed to Sky Germany: “We are in talks with Harry.”
Kane was widely expected to return to England in time to chase down Alan Shearer’s 260-goal Premier League scoring record.

Spurs boss Thomas Frank even stated in September that he would be “more than welcome” back in North London.
But Kane, who is 47 goals behind Shearer, has seemingly gone cold on prospects of a comeback – at least in the short-term.
He said last year: “I’m really happy here in Munich. My family has settled down. My kids are loving it here in school.
“This is my life here for the foreseeable future. I think we’re only just getting started for a really successful period for this club, and I want to be a part of that.”
Whether Kane’s prospective Bayern renewal includes another release clause remains to be seen.
Prem clubs would surely line up for a pop at the forward, who bagged 280 goals in 435 Spurs games.
His numbers in Germany have been even more impressive, with 119 in 126 overall and a staggering 34 in 30 this campaign.
Kane’s lack of silverware became a stick for critics to beat him with before he left for Bayern.
But he shut them up with a Bundesliga title win last season, and they look set to go back-to-back, sitting eight points clear with 15 games to play.
Vincent Kompany’s men are also in DFP-Pokal contention and are guaranteed to automatically qualify for the Champions League knockout stages.
