Haney’s Deflection Over Schofield’s KO Talk Exposes Doubt, Fear, and Fragile Confidence Ahead of Norman Jr. Clash

Haney’s Deflection Over Schofield’s KO Talk Exposes Doubt, Fear, and Fragile Confidence Ahead of Norman Jr. Clash

Floyd Schofield’s prediction that Devin Haney will get knocked out by Brian Norman Jr. on November 22 has woken up the former two-division world champion, causing him to shift his focus to Floyd’s pullout of his title challenge against WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson earlier this year on February 22.

Dodging the Real Conversation

Rather than Haney (32-0, 16 KOs) discussing Norman Jr’s prediction of him losing to WBO welterweight champion Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs), he deflected attention to Brian’s situation for pulling out against Shakur.

Devin said there hasn’t been a “doctor’s note” produced by Schofield to prove that he’d been poisoned to cause him to withdraw four days before the February 22, 2025, fight against Stevenson in Riyadh.

Schofield Strikes a Nerve

“Norman is going to sleep Devin. Of course, he’s going to run. He’d better not stand there,” said Schofield Jr. to Fighthype.

Haney is basically trying to de-legitimize Schofield’s knockout prediction. By changing the frame, Haney is shifting the attention from himself to the circumstances behind Floyd’s withdrawal.

For fans who aren’t keen on what Devin is doing, they focused their attention on Haney’s attack rather than Schofield’s prediction, which has more meaning.

KO Loss Sinks Garcia Rematch

If he does indeed get knocked out by Norman Jr. on November 22, it makes Schofield look good because he’d accurately predicted the outcome. While at the same time, it would take what little air is left out of a rematch between Haney and Ryan Garcia for February 2026.

I ain’t listening to nothing they got to say.. until we get to the bottom of why they pulled out of the Shakur fight 2 days before.. we ain’t see no doctor note or nothing gtfoh yall bitch ass boys not cut like me.. we haven’t forgot yall are really some scary bitches https://t.co/JZG7YmxSGJ

For Devin not to even discuss that prediction suggests that he’s got some self-doubt about this fight. He’s got to be questioning himself heading into this battle, knowing he’s facing the most dangerous puncher in the welterweight division against the 24-year-old Norman Jr.

A devastating knockout loss to this guy could sink Haney’s career, putting him back to square one before he was getting the big million+ paydays. He’s been living like a King, making mega-millions for fights in the last two years. What happens if all that disappears after Brian Jr. scuttles the Haney ship on November 22?

No Time to Heal

“No, not to the elite-level he needs to be for Ryan Garcia. Nah, he’s going to get beat up,” said trainer Brian Norman Sr. to MillCity Boxing about it being unrealistic for Devin Haney to make a quick turnaround from his fight on November 22nd against WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. to return for a rematch against Ryan Garcia in February 2026.

Norman Jr. raises a good point. Devin is not likely to be healthy enough to return to the ring three months after his fight against Brian Norman Jr. on November 22 to face Ryan Garcia in February 2026. What kind of condition will Haney be in after a potential beatdown by Norman Jr. when he faces Ryan early next year? Once Kingry starts bouncing left hooks off Haney’s head, the ending could come quickly.

“It’s the end of November. Hell, yeah, he’s going to get beat up. It’s going to take him at least a month to recover. He’s going to get beat up no matter what,” said Norman Sr. about Haney.
