The Goodwood Revival received the Motorsport UK Environmental Sustainability Award at the organisation’s annual Night of Champions on Saturday.
September’s Goodwood Revival made history as it became the world’s first historic motorsport event to run an entire on-track schedule with vehicles powered solely by sustainable fuel.
All competitors were required to use fuel with a minimum of 70 percent advanced sustainable components.
The award, which was first established in 2012, recognises “a truly exceptional achievement or contribution towards environmental responsibility and active promotion of sustainability within motorsport activities, events and communications”.
The Duke of Richmond, who accepted the award in person, said: “I was delighted to accept the Environmental Sustainability Award for the Goodwood Revival.
“We’re incredibly proud to have played a part in promoting the wider adoption of sustainable fuels by becoming the world’s first historic motorsport event to mandate their use.

“I’d like to thank all of our participating owners, drivers, riders and preparers for their support, and we look forward to continuing to champion the use of sustainable fuels into 2025 and beyond, helping to securing a future for the sport we love so much.”
Before running a full slate in this way in 2024, the previous year’s Revival had seen the event’s first race using sustainable fuels. This was followed by a pair of races using similar fuels at the 2024 Members’ Meeting.
“Goodwood’s decision to run its celebratory Goodwood Revival event on sustainable fuels truly showcases the estate’s commitment to future-proofing motorsport,” said Jessica Runicles, head of sustainability at Motorsport UK.
“This goes alongside the work they are carrying out across their venue to support sustainability throughout. A huge congratulations to the team, and we look forward to seeing what their 2025 event calendar has in store.”
Determined to continue the push on the topic, sustainable fuels will be mandated for use at this year’s 82nd Members’ Meeting and the Revival.
