The minivan is coming to the Bay Area.

Golden State is signing Georges Niang to their 15th and final roster spot, reports Shams Charania of ESPN. This is a veteran minimum contract, and considering Niang’s injury history last season, it’s a safe bet it will not be fully guaranteed.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Warriors signed point guard Brandon Williams.

Niang fits the Warriors’ need for a stretch big after Quinten Post left for Memphis in free agency. In his last healthy season, 2024-25, Niang averaged 9.9 points per game and shot 40.6% from 3-point range. He had played in at least 72 games in the previous five seasons and was considered durable.

Niang was set to play last season with the Jazz but did not set foot on an NBA court due to a fourth metatarsal stress reaction in his left foot that was discovered in the offseason and kept him on the sidelines all year. He was traded to Memphis at the last deadline as part of the Jaren Jackson Jr. trade, and then the Grizzlies waived him.

Now, the Warriors are giving him another chance. If Niang is healthy and back in form, he is exactly the kind of stretch big Steve Kerr loves in his offense.
