Entering Super Bowl week, the New York Giants have just one quarterback under contract for the 2025 season.
To say it’s the top priority for the team to add a starter to that position this offseason is the biggest understatement one could make.
The quarterback(s) that will be brought in by general manager Joe Schoen this offseason are likely to determine his future with the organization.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Giants double-dipped in both free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft. They need competition in the room, and the top prospects in the draft are no sure things.
There are a handful of options the Giants could look at in free agency, one of which is Justin Fields of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
As it happens, Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports strongly urged the Giants to prioritize adding Fields in free agency if he hits the market.
“The Giants could score a quarterback at No. 3 overall in the draft, but two QB-needy teams in the Titans and Browns are above them in the order. Maybe the Giants could give Fields a chance and then draft Travis Hunter in April. Fields’ dual-threat ability is a plus, and he played some of his best football in 2024 with the Steelers. He’s ready for another chance to be a starter, and will come cheaper than Sam Darnold,” Dajani wrote.
Filling in for starter Russell Wilson to begin the season, Fields completed 65.8% of his passes for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns one interception and a 110.6 passer rating in six starts. He also added 62 rushing attempts for 289 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns.
Pro Football Focus projects Fields will sign a one-year deal worth $11 million this offseason.
