Coming off the first 14-loss season in franchise history, there are a lot of areas to address for the New York Giants.

With that said, one quasi-bright spot on the roster is the pass-rush tandem they have on the edge in Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Though depth is needed behind them, the Giants should feel comfortable after Burns showed out during his first campaign with Big Blue. Meanwhile, Thibodeaux still has upside if he can stay healthy while continuing to develop his game.

The position is far from complete so adding more talent to Shane Bowen’s pass-rush is still a priority. Even if that means potentially landing a superstar in a blockbuster trade.

In a shocking development, Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett reportedly requested a trade. The team denied any interest in moving the four-time All-Pro, but it’s clear his time in Cleveland is coming to an end.

Unfortunately for the Giants, it doesn’t seem as though they will be in the mix to land the former No. 1 overall pick, per Art Stapleton of northjersey.com.

“It’s extremely unlikely the Giants would get in the mix to make a play for Garrett if he were to hit the market, but the ramifications could directly affect not only their present, but their future,” Stapleton wrote.

What the Browns do with Garrett could have an indirect impact on the Giants and their draft plans. They could trade Garrett while cutting their losses in the Deshaun Watson saga, which would likely signal a reset.

Holding the No. 2 overall pick in the draft — the spot ahead of New York — could keep the Giants from landing one of the top two quarterbacks in the class.

Even though the Giants won’t seemingly be in the market to land Garrett, his potential trade could have a lasting impact on the direction of the franchise.
