The New York Giants are impatiently waiting for the decision Aaron Rodgers will make in free agency, but what if the team made an entirely different pivot altogether?

Even if the Giants land Rodgers — or even Russell Wilson — the focus still remains on finding the future of the quarterback position. They could be in a position to do so with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but it remains to be seen if they’ll have the opportunity to select Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders.

In a blockbuster trade prediction from Steve Rivera of TWSN, the Giants pivoted toward a deal that lands Arizona Cardinals star Kyler Murray.

“New York is a very logical landing spot for Murray. In Arizona, it’s become a tired act with few who still believe that he is the guy everyone thought he was on draft night,” Rivera wrote. “New York gets a player ready for a fresh start who has immediate name recognition. The new zip code could be a huge change to jumpstart a stagnant career and erase the word “bust” often associated with any discussion had about him.

“Meanwhile, Arizona gets a chance to revive an afterthought of a franchise. Murray for the third-overall pick opens up a new idea, a fresh game plan, and a new face for the franchise.”

Taking on Murray and the remainder of his $230 million contract would be a costly move. The 28-year-old hasn’t quite put it together as a franchise quarterback, but there’s no denying he would be an electric talent in Brian Daboll’s offense.

Murray is a two-time Pro Bowler but hasn’t earned that recognition since the 2021 season. He’s a full season removed from a torn ACL, which could mean brighter days are ahead for the former No. 1 overall pick.

It’s an unlikely scenario given what we’ve learned about the Giants’ pursuit of a new quarterback but if Murray becomes available, it wouldn’t be a surprise if New York was in the mix.
