The New York Giants enter a crucial offseason with the Super Bowl now behind them.

Looking to get out of the NFC East basement, it will be no easy task for the squad led by general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll. The Giants are coming off a franchise-worst 14-loss season with no direction at the quarterback position.

Hitting on some early draft picks in late April could help extend Schoen and Daboll’s tenure with the Giants.

In a three-round mock draft from Chad Reuter of NFL.com, the Giants were able to land some key new pieces that could have impacts right away.

Giants 3-round mock draft

Round 1, Pick 3: QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado

With Cam Ward and Travis Hunter going ahead of the Giants with the first two picks, respectively, they are able to stay put and take a potential franchise quarterback. He brings a quick release and excellent ball placement when working in rhythm, but there are times when he tends to play hero ball a bit too much. Either way, Sanders seems like a solid addition if he falls to No. 3.

As the son of Coach Prime, Sanders has lived in the spotlight his entire life. So I don’t think the New York stage will be too big for him. That said, for the the Giants to maximize their new QB’s talents, they must improve the offensive line and find more playmakers to team with Malik Nabers,” Reuter wrote.

Round 2, Pick 34: G Grey Zabel, North Dakota State

One of the biggest winners from the Senior Bowl, Zabel increased his draft stock significantly thanks to a strong week. Considering his versatility, the Giants would have to make a decision on where to deploy Zabel, but his future is most likely on the interior. With major question marks at both guard positions, the Giants would have themselves a potential starter during the 2025 season.

Grey Zabel scouting report: “Overall, Zabel shows starter-level physical tools with refined run blocking skills and understanding of leverage that signal he can become an immediate role player and potential starter within his first year or two with center likely being his best fit.” — Brandon Thorn, Bleacher Report.

Round 3, Pick 65: CB Benjamin Morrison, Notre Dame

Adding to the cornerback room is a major necessity for the Giants this offseason. Though Andru Phillips gave a promising showing during his rookie campaign, he played exclusively in the slot. Deonte Banks has failed to live up to his Round 1 draft capital going into his third season so adding more competition and depth on the outside would be a prudent move. Morrison underwent season-ending hip surgery midway through Notre Dame’s campaign so that would be something to monitor.

Benjamin Morrison scouting report: “Benjamin Morrison projects as a late first-round to early second-round pick with the potential to be a first-year starter in the NFL. His combination of smooth athleticism, versatility in coverage, and physicality in the run game makes him a well-rounded prospect capable of fitting into multiple defensive schemes. While he needs to improve his transitions and maintain discipline in zone coverage, Morrison’s skill set offers a high ceiling. With continued development, particularly in his ability to shed blocks and refine his coverage techniques, Morrison has the potential to become a reliable starting cornerback at the next level.” — Cory Giddings, Bleacher Report.
