Gervonta Davis Sets Eight-Week Retirement Clock: The Mega-Millions Jake Paul Exhibition and the End of ‘The Face of Boxing’

Gervonta Davis provided an eight-week timeline today for when he plans to retire from the sport, which would follow his exhibition match against Jake Paul on November 14.

Tank’s Eight-Week Retirement Countdown

Davis’ retirement comment ties in with an earlier post on X by him in which he said, “Boxing is dead.” One of Gervonta’s followers then advised him to “retire,” which led to him giving his eight-week timeline for when he’ll step away from the sport.

Multiple sources have said that Tank’s purse for the Jake Paul fight will be around $40 million. So, it makes sense for him to retire from boxing, as he’d have a massive fortune and wouldn’t need to continue fighting.

Netflix’s Next Mega Boxing Spectacle

Boxing experts believe the Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis event will surpass the 41 million global viewers on Netflix that the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford event generated on September 13, 2025.

Paul-Davis’ event isn’t expected to match the 108 million viewers for Jake Paul’s fight against Mike Tyson last year on November 15 on Netflix.

Will Davis Actually Retire?

It’s going to be interesting to see if Tank (30-0-1, 28 KOs) does actually retire. You’ve got to imagine he’ll be offered a lot of money for other fights. A rematch with Jake is a possibility depending on how their fight plays out. T

Temptations That Could Delay Retirement

  • Shakur Stevenson
  • Ryan Garcia: Rematch
  • Devin Haney
  • Teofimo Lopez

It’s widely believed that Tank Davis has lost his love for the sport after his last fights against Lamont Roach, Frank Martin, and Ryan Garcia. He’s made a fortune from those fights. With that money, he seems to have lost the hunger and motivation he once had before becoming wealthy.

Many fans have dubbed Gervonta as ‘The Face of Boxing’ due to the amount of attention his fights receive. It doesn’t matter who Tank fights; he brings in large crowds and sells well on PPV.
