Gervonta Davis Deactivates X Account After Shakur Stevenson Clash: Why Tank Davis Silenced His Social Media

Gervonta Davis deactivated his X account, along with his Instagram account, yesterday, September 26, 2025, following a back-and-forth argument with Shakur Stevenson. Tank Davis’ account shows, “This account doesn’t exist,” indicating that he’s deactivated it, at least for the time being.

Why Did Tank Deactivate X

In the past, Tank Davis deactivated his X account in July 2025 and November 2024. It would be self-defeating for Davis to keep his account deactivated during the complete eight-week build-up for his fight against Jake Paul because he needs to be making posts to help promote the fight. He can’t leave it up to Jake to do all the hard work himself.

Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) likely grew tired of fans bashing him for his retirement decision, as many of them had wanted him to stay in the game long enough to fight Shakur in a mega-fight.

Also, Stevenson unleashed a firestorm of fiery posts in reaction to Tank’s retirement announcement on September 26. Instead of blocking him, Davis chose to reply to many of Shakur’s angry posts. That was obviously a labor-intensive and time-consuming task.

Shakur Stevenson Reacts to Tank’s Retirement

Stevenson had reacted with anger to Tank’s post on X on September 26, alerting his followers that he’s retiring in “8 weeks.” Understandably, Davis’ retirement news upset Stevenson because he’s been lobbying for a fight against him since he moved up to the 135-lb division in 2023.

The WBC lightweight champion Stevenson needed a win over Gervonta to turn him into a PPV star, as he’d not been able to make headway on his own, given the combination of his defensive style of fighting and the lower-ranked fighters he’s been matched against.

“Tank Davis, he didn’t look good in his last fight. He’s not fighting the killers in the division. People are getting off the Tank train,” said commentator Sergio Mora on Boxing with Mannix and Mora.

It doesn’t matter that fans are jumping off the Tank train in droves. He’s fighting a very popular fighter, Jake Paul, who has a massive following on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube. Paul will bring in a large audience to watch the Davis exhibition match on November 14 on Netflix.

“The love is not there anymore. Tank Davis is losing a lot of passion, a lot of followers, and people aren’t buying this circus that Jake Paul is trying to sell. I’m glad that people are getting off this train,” said Mora.
