When the NFL announces fines from the previous week, Steelers wide receiver George Pickens has become a trendy name this season. The third-year pro has gotten his fair share of sanctions from the league during his young career, ranging from fighting to controversial eye black to celebrations.
That trend continued on Saturday, when the NFL announced two more fines for Pickens stemming from the Steelers 44-38 win over the Bengals. Not much has gone wrong for Mike Tomlin’s 9-3 squad this year, outside of antics from his star WR.
Here is why Pickens was punished by the league this week.

Pickens has had several controversial moments this season, which includes grabbing Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis’s facemask at the end of Pittsburgh’s Week 5 game. The NFL has now fined the wide receiver four times this season, bringing the total fine number to over $57,000.
George Pickens-Greg Newsome beef
This week, when the Steelers host the Browns, Pickens and Browns cornerback Greg Newsome will be facing off just a few weeks after they fought in the teams’ first matchup. The two have developed animosity for each other, and Pickens will need to keep his cool against Newsome to avoid even more fines from the league.
Pickens is listed as questionable for the Week 14 game against the Browns. He has 55 catches for 850 yards and three TDs so far this season.
