Journalist Gareth A. Davies weirded out Moses Itauma today during an interview when he asked him if he showers before he fights. The question froze Itauma in his tracks, causing him to look at Gareth to try to understand where he was coming from with this bizarre question.
The Gareth Davies Showering Inquiry
Gareth never did explain why he had asked Itauma about his showering, leaving it to him and the fans to interpret the purpose of the question.
The unbeaten #1 WBO-ranked heavyweight contender Itauma (12-0, 10 KOs) is fighting the veteran Dillian Whyte (31-3, 21 KOs) in the main event on a $49.99 card on DAZN PPV on Saturday, August 16th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a fight that could vault the 20-year-old Itauma into a world title clash against undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Gareth Davies: “Did you shower before you fought then?”
Moses Itauma: “Huh?”
Gareth: “Never mind, it’s an in-joke.”
Itauma: “Alright. Anyway, I was thinking while I was in the show that although I’ve got to thank the people, I’ve also got to thank myself for bringing myself to this position.”
Spencer Oliver: “Ben [Davison] has full confidence in this young man. Is it a passing of the baton? I believe it is.”
Gareth: “Dillian Whyte’s decision not to do anything in there. I didn’t see [trainer] Buddy McGirt either.”
Why Whyte Looks So Old
It was weird. During today’s media workout, Whyte threw a few punches, and that was it. He quickly ended the session. He looked very old. You couldn’t ignore how old he was and how poor his movement was. Dillian’s movement inside the ring resembled a person with arthritis in his legs. It gave him the appearance of a person in their 70s or 80s.
In watching the workout, all you could say is, bravo to Queensberry for selecting another easy opponent for Moses Itauma to knock over and look like a valuable gem. They know how to pick them. Their matchmakers are on par with Top Rank’s in their ability to select opposition that gives their Queensberry a great chance of winning.
