Fans on social media worried about safety issues for the fighters on the May 2nd ‘Fatal Fury, City of Wolves’ card in Times Square, New York City. Handling the fan situation is going to be a nightmare, as this event is outside in one of the busiest spots in NYC.

The Fight Card

  • Ryan Garcia vs Rolly Romero
  • Devin Haney vs Jose Ramirez
  • Teofimo Lopez vs Arnold Barboza Jr

Altamont Echoes

Turki Alalshikh posted an AI-generated image of what the outside event will look like, and fans are concerned that someone could be hurt without safety precautions in place. The mass crowd resembled the December 6, 1969 photo of the Rolling Stones when they gave a free concert in Altamont outside of Tracy, California. A huge crowd showed up with tons of violence, injuries, and one person killed. It was impossible for security to handle a crowd of that size.

The Times Square event on May 2nd could have the same problems. A huge crowd will turn up, many of them crazies, and possibly resort to throwing bottles if they’re unhappy with the fight results.

Unruly Crowd

Ryan Garcia’s popularity is like that of a celebrity. He has obsessed followers and haters. Putting him out in the open public would be worrisome. I’d be worried if I were him.

If angry and crazed casual fans go off during an after one of the fights, there’s risk for the fighters. With the boxing ring outside, it means anyone can be there. If you’ve been on Times Square before, it’s a crazy place at night.
