Gareth A. Davies believes Tyson Fury may live to regret it if he doesn’t come out of retirement to fight Anthony Joshua. It’s possible that Fury’s decision to stay retired, play it safe, could torment him later in life for not showing bravery to take the Joshua clash when he had the chance.
Fury likes to talk about himself as a warrior ready to go to war, but his actions suggest he is afraid to go to the frontlines and risk his hide. He’d rather let someone else take all the risks while he stays on R & R, eating caviar, living the easy life.
Millions Lost: Selfish Choice
The attitude ‘The Gypsy King’ has about not returning is viewed as selfish because he has the potential to make $150-200 million for two fights against AJ. With the dough, he could create a Rockefeller-like dynasty for future generations of the Fury family.
Last week, the former two-time heavyweight champion Fury sounded defiant, saying on social media, “What would I return for? I’m retired, and I’m staying retired. I’ve got nothing to prove to anybody and nothing to return for.” Having lost his last two fights to Oleksandr Usyk, Fury appears to be a sore loser, acting like an embittered victim.
Notice the selfish, withholding attitude?
“Given what’s been said to be about Tyson, there’s an ambivalence about Tyson,” said Gareth Davies to talkSport Boxing about Tyson Fury’s retirement. “He said he’s been ‘rumped.’ I think what he means by that is we’ve got lumps out of him in his career. Maybe he doesn’t want to get punched anymore. I agree, he doesn’t have anything to prove after fighting Deontay Wilder. He probably has 150 million [pounds] in the bank. He has generational wealth there.”
Fury’s Unrealized Riches
Tyson certainly has generational wealth, but he could double that number if he showed some courage and ambition to return for two fights against Joshua and a trilogy against Oleksander Usyk. Assuming Tyson wins his two fights against the faded AJ, he could wind up with a $500 million fortune by the time he retires.
“It would be huge, and it would be a two-fight deal. One could open Riyadh Season in October. ‘I could have proved something. I should have proved something,” said Gareth, about how Fury will regret not coming out of retirement to fight Anthony Joshua.
