Furious Championship manager tells personal trainer to pay former Premier League star’s wages after injury

ANGRY Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom has blasted a personal trainer over an injury to summer signing Daniel Jebbison.

The striker, who arrived on loan from Bournemouth, is out for at least three weeks after picking up an ankle injury on his day off in a private training session.

That added to a lengthy injury list that includes Will Keane, Brad Potts and Robbie Brady, who all missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Queens Park Rangers.

Former Sheffield United boss Heckingbottom said: “I’m really angry about it.

“These trainers work with players and want to put it all over social media to promote their business and are happy to take the money.

“They promote their businesses but don’t put it out there when they injure a player.

“Nobody’s advertising that Daniel Jebbison is out injured, so I’ll do it for them.

“I get it that players want to better themselves – my anger is with people who work with them, but don’t suffer when players are injured.

“If they sign a piece of paper saying they’ll cover a player’s wages when he’s injured, players can go to them every day.

‘If they say they’ve got insurance and can get us a new striker, no problem.

“But they don’t do that. There’s no accountability.

“If one of our players gets injured in our gym, in training or in a match, it’s on us.

“Jebbo was doing some gym work and rocked his ankle. It’s a total accident but it’s thrown us. We haven’t got big numbers and we need him fit.”
