WBC and WBO junior middleweight champion Sebastian ‘The Towering Inferno’ Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs) putting in the final work ahead of his title defenses against Chordale Booker (23-1, 11 KOs) in 14 days on March 22nd on PBC on Prime Video at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. Fundora, 27, looked good in a training clip getting ready for his upcoming bout.

Booker, 33, isn’t the opponent that boxing fans wanted to see the 6’5 1/2″ Fundora defend against next, but he’s a mix of issues that has forced him to take this guy.

Sebastian suffered a broken nose in his 12-round split decision over Tim Tszyu on March 30th last year, which took time to heal. Then Fundora was supposed to defend against former unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr., but the fight fell apart, leaving him empty-handed.

Now, #5 WBO and #14 WBC Booker gets the shot after all the problems. Booker has won his last six fights against lower-level opposition since being knocked out in the first round by Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams on April 30, 2022. That’s the only notable opponent on Chordale’s nine-year resume, making it tough to know whether he’s any good.

It’s impossible to see if Booker has improved because his last six opponents have been obscure. All we can say is that he’s bounced back nicely from his blowout loss to Ammo, and the WBC and WBO thought highly enough of him to give him a top-tier ranking with their organizations.

On the undercard of Fundora-Booker is super middleweight Elijah Garcia (16-1, 13 KOs) taking on veteran Terrell Gausha (24-4-1, 12 KOs) in a 10-round fight. The highly rated prospect Garcia, 21, was upset by Kyrone Davis in his last fight, losing a 10-round split decision on June 15th last year.

“Things change all the time. Opponents fall through. Events fall through. With Booker, we’ve been training hard to have our first defense of our unified titles,” said Sebastian Fundora. “I will do what I always do. We’re all professional boxers trying to achieve world championship status. I’m here now. There were a couple obstacles along the way, but I’ll continue to do what I do and train hard to do well. I’m excited for whoever we fight next.”
