The midfielder has been out of action for most of the season and limited to just two cameo appearances.
He has now given fans a positive update on his recovery progress.
The star shared a picture of himself back at Manchester City’s training ground with his leg all strapped up.
But fans were shocked to see him with a drastically different haircut.
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid star was usually remembered for a short back and sides trim.

The picture showed him with some much longer locks which left fans stunned.
The footballer was, of course, Mateo Kovacic and fans could not believe the hair transformation as they reacted on social media.
One posted: “That’s Cillian Murphy, where is Kovacic?”
A second wrote: “Where has this beautiful hair been?”

Another added: “Kovacic looks like a movie actor.”
Manager Pep Guardiola revealed in October that Kovacic had suffered an injury to his ankle.
He said: “He will be out for a while.
“He still has a problem with the ankle, a little calcification still there.
“We’ll wait on him for the last part of the season.”
Kovacic, 31, has won the Champions League four times in his career so far.
He won three titles during his four-year spell at Real Madrid before adding another winners’ medal to his cabinet at Chelsea.
