Former Sky Sports pundit overwhelming favourite to become Brentford manager with Bees expected to snub Kieran McKenna

KEITH ANDREWS is the huge favourite to take over from Thomas Frank at Brentford.

The Bees are looking for a new manager after Frank joined Tottenham on Thursday.

Brentford have established themselves as a stable Premier League club since the Dane’s arrival in 2018.

Frank got the Bees promoted in just his second season in charge.

But the race to become his successor in West London is now hotting up.

Andrews, a former defensive midfielder for Wolves and West Brom, has been set set-piece coach at Brentford since last summer.

The 45-year-old has now been installed as favourite to succeed Frank – despite never holding a previous head coach role.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Odds have been slashed on Keith Andrews to become the next permanent Brentford manager with the Bees looking to move quickly to replace Thomas Frank, who joined Tottenham on Thursday.

“Andrews is now the 1/9 favourite to take the job, having been 6/5 on Friday morning and as long as 22/1 when the market opened.

“Kieran McKenna follows at 10/3 to make an immediate return to the Premier League, with Ange Postecoglou alongside Danny Rohl at 9/1.”

McKenna, 39, was relegated back to the Championship with Ipswich last season.

Postecoglou was ousted by Spurs despite ending their long trophy drought.

Thomas Frank is announced as new Tottenham manager

While Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl is coveted by a host of clubs, but would require hefty compensation.

Andrews hung up his boots in 2015 after a 16-year career in the EFL.

He earned 35 caps for Ireland and joined Sky Sports as a pundit after retiring.

Andrews served as assistant manager of Ireland and was also on Chris Wilder’s staff at Sheffield United.

Brentford thanked Frank on Thursday evening for his “incredible role” in the club’s history.

Bees director of football Phil Giles said: “From the moment he replaced Dean Smith, Thomas understood what we were trying to build and his wisdom, coaching ability and emotional intelligence have helped transform the club.

“But it’s not just what you see on the pitch.

“He forged a special connection with our fans, helped develop and improve players, and was instrumental in implementing the culture that has seen Brentford go from strength to strength.

“We will never forget Thomas, but now it is time to thank him and take the next steps in our journey with a new leader who we believe can be just as successful and influential.”
