SCOTT MCTOMINAY could be set for a sensational return to the Premier League after struggling with life off the pitch in Italy.
The Scottish international led Napoli to a Serie A title after his move from Manchester United last summer.
He scored 12 goals in his first season, winning player of the year and also came 18th in the prestigious Ballon d’Or.
McTominay, 28, has bagged another three goals from midfield this season but Napoli have struggled and are currently third, two points behind league leaders AC Milan.
A source told The Sun: “Scott loves elements of Italian life and had a wonderful first season.
“But the passion of the fans can be a blessing but also make things difficult.

“He is treated as a god over there but it means he finds it difficult to do simple things when he’s not training.
“The attention can be suffocating.”
Napoli, who signed Kevin de Bruyne from Man City in the summer and McTominay’s former United team-mate Rasmus Hojlund on loan, were beaten 6-2 by PSV in the Champions League this week.
Manager Antonio Conte said in the wake of the defeat: “We need to humble ourselves.
“Both old and new [players] need to step up their game. We all need to step up, regardless of the sending-off.
“If we want to grow and build something that can make Napoli proud, we need to understand that we need to get back to last year, where only the good of Napoli was at stake.”
McTominay lives with his Wag Cameron Reading, who he has dated for several years.
