FORMER Wolves and Nottingham Forest ace Rafa Mir has been charged with violent sexual assault.

Mir, 28, currently plays for Elche in LaLiga this season on loan from Sevilla.

The striker was arrested in September 2024 during a previous loan stint at Valencia.

A friend of the former Spain youth international Pablo Jara was also arrested.

According to Las Provincias, the centre-forward is now due to appear in court on October 13 for allegedly assaulting a 21-year-old woman.

The complainant is said to have met the duo at a nightclub, and gone back to Mir’s home with them and her female friend.

Spanish media reported the 21-year-old told police Mir had attacked her in his bathroom and swimming pool.

The player was held in custody for several days before being freed on bail.

Mir paid £10,8000 for bail, while Jara’s cost £4,300.

The Sevilla loanee was ordered to hand in his passport and not come within 500 metres of the complainant.

Mir has also been banned from leaving the country while the case remains active.

The forward could now be jailed for several years if found guilty at next week’s trial.

The Spanish FA also has powers to ban him from football for up to five years if they deem him guilty of bringing the game into disrepute.
