At this late stage in free agency, there are still several veterans available on the open market. And, it just so happens one of them really wants to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

That veteran is former New England Patriots defensive lineman and Super Bowl champion, Lawrence Guy.

Guy was a guest on “Good Morning Football” on Friday and expressed his desire to join Steelers star defensive lineman Cam Heyward in Pittsburgh.

“I’m a defensive guy, I need to go on defensive teams,” he said. “And I understand there’s a lot of things up in the air, but I would do it, I would go to Pittsburgh.

“I love the organization. I know I played for the Ravens, I get the rivalry, I love the black and blue game, I was part of the black and blue game. It is what it is. The team is know for defense.”

Guy has actually had a pair of stints in the AFC North, one with the Ravens and one with the Cincinnati Bengals, who he played for in 2024. He also won a Super Bowl during his days with the Patriots.

Going into the offseason, the defensive line was a major concern, but Pittsburgh has since addressed the unit in a big way with the draft additions of Derrick Harmon in the first round and Yahya Black in the fifth.

Even still, the Steelers could use more veteran depth options, especially after cutting Larry Ogunjobi. Guy is well past his prime at the age of 35, but it wouldn’t hurt to bring him in to add more competition to the room.

We’ll see if his lobbying catches the Steelers’ attention enough to bring him in for a shot at making the 2025 roster.
