BEN CHILWELL has reportedly been handed a career lifeline by Chelsea’s sister club.

The full back spent the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace and helped them win the FA Cup.

Chilwell, 28, appears to have no future at Stamford Bridge as he is behind Marc Cucurella and newboy Jorrel Hato in the pecking order.

The 21-time England international could now be offered a route out of Chelsea.

The Daily Telegraph has claimed that he has emerged as a target for Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg.

Chelsea’s owners BlueCo also own the French club and there has been plenty of business between the two clubs.

The Blues have signed multiple players from Strasbourg and loaned players to the club.

Any permanent transfer that would involve a fee would be subject to a fair value check by Uefa an the Premier LEague.

Chelsea and Aston Villa were warned about creative swap deals after Ian Maatsen and Omari Kellyman’s moves last year.

A deal would most likely see Chilwell move to Strasbourg on loan with the Blues covering the majority of his £200,000-per-week wages.

Strasbourg is not the only club to be tipped with an interest in the defender’s signature.

The report has also suggested that Italian teams Roma and Torino are interested in adding him to their squads.

Chelsea fans needn’t worry about losing Rio Ngumoha, there’s somone better on the way

A move to Torino would see Chillwell link up with Tino Anjorin, who was a Chelsea player and academy product between 2008 and 2024.

He left permanently for Serie A side Empoli but joined Torino on loan in July.

While Roma have already made multiple signings from the Premier League this summer.

Evan Ferguson has joined on loan with an option to buy from Brighton, while Leon Bailey has arrived on a similar deal from Aston Villa.
