Ford vs. Nova: A Childish Back-and-Forth Dominates Final Press Conference for Super Featherweight Bout

Ford vs. Nova: A Childish Back-and-Forth Dominates Final Press Conference for Super Featherweight Bout

Raymond Ford repeatedly insisted during the final press conference on Thursday that his replacement opponent, Abraham Nova, isn’t on his level for their 10-round super featherweight contest this Saturday, August 16th, on DAZN PPV in Riyadh.

Nova (24-3-1,17 KOs), who arguably should have only one defeat on his resume, was brought in as the replacement after Anthony Cacace pulled out of the fight. During the press conference, Abraham ‘Super’ Nova angered Ford (17-1, 8 KOs) by saying that he’s going to be taking the judges out of play to avoid another controversial defeat.

Childish Confrontation at Presser

The Eddie Hearn-promoted Ford, 26, got worked over the comment from Nova, and said over and over he wasn’t on his level. The back and forth between them sounded childish after a while. The moderator should have stepped in and broken it up to get them focused on different questions.

You can’t rule out a victory for Nova because he does well on fighters that lack power, and Ford is not a big puncher.

“I took this fight because I’ve been active and I’m in shape. I didn’t want to sit on the couch. They gave me the call. I felt it was the perfect style for myself,” said Abraham Nova during today’s final press conference for his fight against Ray Ford on Saturday night in Riyadh.

Abraham Nova’s Judges Comment

“I think Raymond is a hell of a fighter, but I feel I belong on that stage with the elites. If you guys have been following my career and know my story. I’ve had some tough decisions and tough losses. 2025 is my year to turn things around. I feel this is going to be a great victory for myself.”

“Let’s be real. We know he’s not knocking me out. I don’t even know why he’s trying to hype himself up to even believe in that,” said Ray Ford. “You know what I’m coming with. I know what he’s coming with, and he’s simply not on my level. I’m going to show that I’m the best fighter he’s ever been in the ring with.”

“Everyone is entitled to their opinion. We’ll find out on Saturday night,” said Nova.

“That ain’t an opinion. That’s a fact, and I’m going to show you,” said Nova.

“That’s your opinion,” said Nova.

“You’re going to see,” said Ford.

“That’s your opinion,” said Nova.

“You’re going to see,” said Ford.

“You’re going to see, too,” said Nova.

“I’m going to. I’m going to all night until it’s time for him to go home,” said Ford when asked if he’s going to send a message with his performance against Nova.

“He’s a fighter. He’s supposed to feel like that. All fighters feel like they’re on different levels,” said Nova. “I’m glad he’s confident himself. I’m confident in myself, and we’ll see on Saturday night.”

“You’re not confident,” said Ford.

“We’ll see,” said Nova.

“You’re not confident,” said Ford.

“You can’t tell me how I feel, champ,” said Nova.

“You’re not confident. I know you’re not confident,” said Ford.

“Alright,” said Nova. “You’ll see. Like I said, we’re all confident and we’re going to find out.”

“You’re here to get paid,” said Ford.

“No, I’m here to win, champ,” said Nova.

“You’re here to get paid,” said Ford.

“I’m here to win, champ,” said Nova. You’re going to see.”
